Step and dance teams have become an ever-so-popular recreation for high school and middle school students and families, not only in Metro Louisville but around the United States. Past competitions have been known to draw large crowds of supportive and excited fans and spectators. The 2008 Illumination Derby Ball’s Tri-State Hip-Hop Dance Competition will be held downtown to make it possible for the spectators attending the Derby Pegasus Parade to walk directly from Broadway to attend the event. Attendance at the Pegasus Parade reaches 175,000 - 200,000 spectators every year. The design of the event is to include different groups, singers, teams, and entertainers to participate in intermission and other special events during the competition. Kentucky State University’s Marching Thoroughbreds Band, who will also be performing the Pegasus Parade, will perform a concert at the competition.
